“It was very special for us and our adult patients to be able to do something for children with life-threatening diseases. They donated R750 that we then transferred to Palliative Treatment for Children South Africa,” said Elmarie du Toit of the hospice.

Organised by the International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN), the day aims to raise international awareness of the work of children’s palliative care services worldwide and the need to ensure that this specialist care is available to every child, no matter where they live.

Followed by this day, Saturday October 9 is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
