Approximately 20 armed suspects target shopping complex near Numbi

Police have launched a manhunt for suspects following a business robbery in which four ATMs were bombed.

The police in Masoyi are investigating a case of business robbery following an incident that took place at about 06:00 on Thursday at Dayizenza Plaza, Mahushu, 12 kilometres outside Hazyview.

Brig Selvy Mohlala, a provincial spokesperson for the police, said the security guards present alleged that they were on parade to report for duty when a group of approximately 20 heavily armed suspects attacked them.

Two security guards were shot, one of whom was fatally wounded. The other one was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to Mohlala, the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash after bombing four ATMs.

“Four vehicles were used as getaway cars; two Mercedes-Benzes, one white Ford Ranger and one Polo Classic.

“Cartridges were found scattered on the scene. All relevant stakeholders were summoned.”
