Much-loved for their unique musical brand of Afrikaans storytelling through music, the Radio Kalahari Orkes, headed by brilliant actor and storyteller Ian Roberts, delighted its audience at The Pub last Thursday October 22.

The South African Afrikaans folk rock band gave an electric performance before an intimate crowd, singing several of their well-known tracks like “Hoender is ‘n vegetable”. The band also surprised their audience with an English song, saying they wanted to cater for everyone watching in the crowd.

Their catchy tunes soon had everyone clapping, singing, tapping their feet or nodding their heads along to the music as the sounds of the violin, guitar and chicken flute filtered through The Pub.

The musicians took to the stage at around 19:30, taking a short break in between their set before starting up again.
