Golfers swing into action to claim the title
Women from all over the province attended the annual Women's Golf Mpumalanga Open 2021 that was held at the Sabi River Sun Golf Club on November 20 and 21.

Light rain drizzled on Saturday, and Sunday’s play had to be called off due to more heavy showers.

Players from all over South Africa came to the challenge to battle for the title of open winner.
Kyra van Kan of Glendower Golf Club played an esteemed level par in two of the three rounds on Saturday, and this was enough to crown her the winner.
There were three divisions, namely the championship, silver and bronze. The winner in the championship division and junior open was Van Kan with a score of 72 and 70 on Saturday.

Nicola Schoeman of Bankenveld Golf Estate was the runner-up for the champion division with a score of 75 and 76, and Lucia Mhlabe of Malelane Golf Club as junior champion runner-up. Sonja Bland of Fancourt Golf Estate was the mid-amateur open champion and senior open champion. Stephanie Barbaglia of Bryanston Country Club was the best nett champion.

In the silver division, Rose Powell of Kambaku Golf Club was the open and close champion for the seniors. The junior open champion for the silver division was Stacy-Lee van Gent of Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.
Petricia Buurman of Middelburg Country Club was the overall open, mid-amateur and senior open champion for the bronze division. Lehlogondalo Chweu of Akasia Country Club was the junior open champion for the bronze division.

The president of Mpumalanga Women’s Golf, Alida Schoeman, thanked the sponsors for their assistance in making the tournament such a success.
The sponsors were Elegant Fuel and Hobo’s Café Middelburg. A special thanks also went to Coenie du Preez, the president of the Mpumalanga Golf Union, for his assistance. According to Alida, Sabi River Sun displayed a high level of excellence during the tournament.
