Local bicycle shop burgled of specialised bikes

The burglary occurred at Bell's Cycling at 05:27 on Sunday November 28. The public has been urged to keep a lookout for both the bikes and the van used to steal them.

Several specialised bicycles to the total value of over R600 000 were stolen from Bell’s Cycling in the early hours of Sunday November 28.

Bell’s Cycling, which specialises in the sales and maintenance of road and mountain bikes, posted on its Facebook page that eight bicycles, ranging from R42 000 to R115 000 each, had been stolen at about 05:27 from the shop in Riverside.

People have been urged to look out for these bicycles and were asked not to purchase any bicycle without proof of a previous owner or proof from an authorised specialised bicycle shop.

The Mbombela security company, Divergent Ops, also posted about the theft, as well as photos of the van used by the burglars to transport the stolen bikes.

The footage shows a white VW panel van, thought to be a T6 Transporter. The stolen bicycles are listed as follows, with their product codes and values:
