Lowveld Social Series final an exciting success

Anglers achieved excellent results in the 2021 Lowveld Social Series fishing championship on December 5 at Injaka Dam near Bushbuckridge.

The much-awaited final had 66 competitors, ranging from young to old, and experience hooked first place.

The champions were Dave Blow and Vikesh Naidoo of Team DNA Venom. They had also organised all the previous competitions that led up to the final. Blow caught the biggest fish, a bass that weighed in at 2.67 kilograms.

Anro Bekker, Mornê Bezuidenhout, CJ Bezuidenhout and Luan Mathee.

The runner-up was Eugene Rautenbach. Jaco and Charlene Schoeman, who represented Team Fishy Flukes, were third.

In the juniors, Anro Bekker won the title of catching the largest fish, also a bass, which weighed 1.28 kilograms.

There was much excitement leading up to the event and the participants and sponsors did not disappoint as a record number of attendees had their fishing lines in the water.

Sponsored prizes ranged from a massive cash prize for the winning team to huge hampers and vouchers.

“A huge thank you to Vikesh and Kalay Naidoo for doing such an amazing job of organising all the previous competitons for the 2021 season and growing the Lowveld Social Series to what it has become,” said Wiehann Serfontein.
