No confirmation of national shutdown occurring in Mbombela
The CPF chairperson, John Meintjies, said following talks with various role players, the possibility of any planned action in the city is only speculation. Security companies are, however, on standby.

Addressing the widespread speculation with regards to a possible national shutdown planned for tomorrow, June 10, the CPF’s chairperson, John Meintjies, issued a statement on the matter.
“After taking the time to speak to various role players in our city, I would like to take this opportunity to state that this is now only speculation, and that there is no confirmation of any planned action in Nelspruit.

“Further to this, all private security companies have activated their contingency plans and the Nelspruit Joint Operational Committee, that was established after the riots in July last year, will be active from early tomorrow morning.
“I also have no doubt that SAPS is aware of the possible risk and will also be ready to assist should there be any incident of lawlessness.”
Meintjies urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, to report any suspicious activity to security companies, the CPF or SAPS, and not to distribute unverified information or messages.
