More suspects arrested in informal lodge murder

A case of murder is being investigated after a body was discovered at an informal guest lodging on Tuesday June 7 in Lydenburg.

On Wednesday June 8, the Lydenburg SAPS arrested a man (22) and his brother (43), who are now in custody with the first suspect (33) to be arrested. A woman informed the police of a body she had found in her informal guest lodging, called the Hollywood, in Potgieter Street. During their investigations, however, the police ascertained that she had been involved in the covering up of the alleged murder and interrogated her.

The police and emergency services certified the man dead on the scene. Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela, the provincial police commissioner, applauded the police for leaving no stone unturned in dealing with the matter. SAPS has not yet released the victim’s name. The suspects appeared in the Mashishing Magistrate’s Court on Thursday June 9. The case was postponed to June 27 for further investigations. The suspects are currently in custody at the Lydenburg SAPS.
