Woman allegedly accosted while walking in West Acres

It is alleged that two men robbed the woman of her cellphone before they fled into the nearby bush and disappeared.

A woman was allegedly accosted by two unknown men at about 18:00 on Sunday evening, August 14.

Reports from neighbourhood WhatsApp groups and members from the community indicate that a woman was on her way back from a walk along Percy Fitzpatrick Drive, turning in to Orange Street in West Acres, when two men allegedly stormed her.

A resident in the area, Pippa Botha, told Lowvelder that the woman’s cellphone was robbed and that nearby neighbours and a passer-by helped to scare the alleged attackers off.

She said there is video footage of the incident, but that it cannot be shared at this stage.

The incident could not be confirmed with any of the private security companies in the area at the time of publishing. This is a developing story, and Lowvelder will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
