Seven-year-old goes missing near Masoyi

The missing boy was reported to the police by his family. An inquiry was opened at the Masoyi SAPS.

It has been more than 72 hours since the disappearance of a seven-year-old child near Masoyi. Lesedi Andile Chiloane was reported missing on Sunday August 28.

According to the police, the boy had last been seen at home by his family earlier that day. Lesedi, his cousin and his grandfather were busy watering some plants in the garden at around 09:00. He was wearing grey jeans and a grey jersey when he disappeared.

The missing boy was reported to the police by his family and an inquiry was opened at the Masoyi SAPS on the same day.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said, “The case was assigned to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. Since the victim went missing, the police, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders as well as members of the community, have been hard at work searching for him, but the child has not yet been found.”

“We urge anyone with information that may assist in locating the boy or may help with the investigation, to contact Detective Sergeant Mthunzi Shadrack Mokgoadi on 079 420 8842 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.

Alternatively members of the public can send information via the My SAPS app. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” said Mohlala.
