Mpumalanga dam levels continue to drop
Despite the province's dam levels continuing to dip, they remain above 90%.

The Department of Water and Sanitation’s weekly dam levels report of September 7 show average dam levels in Mpumalanga are continuing to drop.
The average level is still above 90%, a marked improvement on levels recorded during the same period last year. This week’s average levels dropped from 93.7% to 93.2%, about 13.4% higher than the same period last year.
On the water management areas, the Olifants dropped from 83.1% to 82.7% and the Inkomati-Usuthu dropped from 97.5% to 96.9%.

The Klipkopjes and Ohrigstad dams remained unchanged at 99.4% and 46.1% respectively. Vygeboom Dam remained unchanged at 100.4%, as did Nkangala District’s Loskop Dam at 100.1%.
Blyderivierpoort Dam declined from 94.3% to 91.4%, Buffelskloof from 98.6% to 97.4%, Driekoppies from 99.9% to 99.6%, Longmere from 92.4% to 90.5%, Witklip from 98.2% to 97.4%, Primkop from 100% to 99.6%, Kwena from 98.9% to 97.7%, Da Gama from 97% to 96%, and Inyaka from 84.6% to 82.7%.
In Gert Sibande District, Grootdraai Dam dropped from 97% to 96.3%, Nooitgedacht from 99.6% to 99.5%, Jericho from 95.6% to 95%, Westoe from 82.8% to 80.7%, Morgenstond from 99.8% to 99.7% and Heyshope from 100% to 99.9%.

In the Nkangala District, Witbank Dam dropped from 99.4% to 99.2%, Middelburg from 97.4% to 96.5% and Rhenosterkop/Mkhombo Dam from 50.4% to 50.1%.
The Department of Water and Sanitation would like to remind the public that South Africa remains a water-scarce country and urges individuals to use this precious resource wisely and sparingly.
