Traffic officer hit by truck in Hazyview

The officer was airlifted to hospital. Traffic is currently moving slowly while the emergency personnel clear the road.

An on-duty traffic officer was hit by a water tanker in Hazyview today, September 27, at 10:30.
According to an eyewitness, Fana Mashaba, the officer was busy inspecting another vehicle when the truck hit the traffic officer’s car, before hitting the officer.

“I suspect the truck either had a brake failure or the driver lost control,” he said.
The trucker sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene, while the traffic officer was airlifted to the nearest hospital for medical attention.

Police and emergency personnel are currently on the scene monitoring the situation. The police are investigating the causes of the accident.
