Lowveld to suffer extreme and unseasonal heat
People who are exposed to sunlight and very high temperatures are advised to rehydrate, wear protective headgear and apply strong sunscreen.

Another extreme and unseasonal wave of heat is forecast to hit the Lowveld tomorrow, Thursday October 6, and again from Saturday to Monday.
Temperatures in Mbombela are expected to rise to 36 degrees Celsius on Thursday with Skukuza reaching a maximum temperature of 40 degrees.
On Sunday, Mbombela’s temperature will be 38 degrees while Skukuza will feel the heat with temperatures peaking at around 41 degrees.

SA Weather Service (SAWS) forecaster, Kokelo Thiloane. said the SAWS has issued an advisory for very hot and humid temperatures. “No rain is expected in the next week, although Friday will give some respite with Mbombela’s temperature reaching 29 degrees,” she said.
Such uncomfortable conditions are not expected to abate as summer progresses.
Hannelee Doubell, the manager of communications of the SAWS, said, “This summer we are expecting extreme heat, flooding, hail, and severe thunderstorms. Tropical cyclones will become more relevant between February and April.
“For this reason, vigilance in terms of the named weather phenomena is extremely important. Basic action like cleaning of gutters and drains is advisable,” she said.
