Riverside CID and Makro join hands to combat e-waste
The partnership between Riverside CID and Makro aimed to raise awareness regarding the importance of e-waste recycling and to encourage the public to participate in it responsibly.

The Riverside City Improvement District (CID), in partnership with Makro and the Riverside CID Social Investment Foundation, celebrated Global Recycling Day on March 18. The partnership aimed to raise awareness of the importance of e-waste recycling and encourage the public to participate in responsible disposal of electronic waste.
“We are thrilled to partner with Makro and the Riverside CID Social Investment Foundation to promote Global Recycling Day and increase awareness of the importance of responsible e-waste recycling,” said Jessica Prim, the marketing co-ordinator of Riverside CID. “Our aim is to educate the public about the environmental impacts of electronic waste.”
Kyle Rorich, the general manager of Makro, shared his thoughts on the importance of e-waste recycling. “Makro is committed to sustainability and responsible waste management. We are proud to partner with the Riverside CID and the Riverside CID Social Investment Foundation to raise awareness about e-waste recycling. Through this partnership, we hope to encourage the community to make a positive impact on the environment by disposing of their e-waste in a responsible way.”
This e-waste recycling initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12, which calls for responsible consumption and production. By encouraging the proper disposal of e-waste, we are promoting sustainable practices that reduce the negative impact on the environment and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.
The public is encouraged to participate in this initiative by dropping off their electronic waste in the container provided located in the Makro parking lot. Accepted items include old computers, batteries, laptops, cellphones, printers and other electronic devices.
“By properly disposing of e-waste, we can help reduce the negative impact on our environment and make a positive contribution to our community,” said Prim. “We urge everyone to join us in celebrating Global Recycling Day and making a difference by responsibly disposing of their electronic waste.”
