Lowveld bowling goes from strength to strength as juniors take to the greens
The future of bowls in the Lowveld looks bright, especially with these youngsters climbing the ranks and the sport being developed in the province.

April has been a busy yet successful month for the game of bowls in the Lowveld.
Four junior players, Theo Ingram, Linda Partridge and Arthur Partridge of the Waterval Boven Bowls Club and Wilco du Plooy from Barberton was selected to represent Mpumalanga in the past Bowls South Africa U15 and U18 National Championship, which took place in Bloemfontein from April 3 to 6.
Their selection means that they have earned their Mpumalanga colours. Lowveld Bowls Association expressed its pride about these juniors with their dedication and commitment to the sport, which has culminated in their success in the tournament.

They have set an excellent example for aspiring bowlers in Mpumalanga and certainly have a bright future ahead of them, said the club.
Theo, captain of the U15 team, was also selected as the U15 player of the tournament, a tremendous achievement.

A few weeks after the youngsters’ achievements, the Mpumalanga Bowls Development Tournament between Mpumalanga Lowveld and Mpumalanga West was held at Ermelo Bowls Club on the weekend of April 21 to 23.
The hard work the management and players put in for this tournament paid off as both the ladies’ and men’s teams from the Lowveld ended on top as champions of the tournament.
