There was a jovial mood in the Mahlakwena Village outside Steelpoort when 366 youngsters returned home after a month at the local initiation school.
The graduation ceremony was hosted at Mojalefa Tribal House on Saturday.
The boys, who are now regarded as men, were warmly welcomed by the excited community members. There was jubilation and tears of joy on the parents’ faces as they greeted their children.

Some women ululated while the men whistled and danced to traditional Sepedi songs.
Speaking to the parents, the organiser of the school, Thaba Mojalefa, said that one of the positive factors was that there were no casualties.
“The past four weeks have been hectic. Running an initiation school is not an easy task, but I am glad that there were no casualties,” he said.
Some of the initiates came from as far as Gauteng, other parts of Mpumalanga and North West.
Mojalefa said they are delighted that the school had attracted youngsters from other villages and that they owed their success to the fact that they treated the initiates like their own children.
He said they still urged the initiates to study hard, respect their elders and become better people in society.
Parents said they were glad their children came home well and safe and vowed to support Mojalefa school in the future
