Mbombela rallied behind the Boks as they win their World Cup match

Supporters were left without any disappointment as they gathered to watch the Springboks against Scotland at the Lowveld Botanical Garden.

World Cup fever hit the world, and the Lowveld, known to be filled with sport enthusiasts, was no exception.

Hundreds of supporters went out to their favourite spots on Sunday to watch the Springboks’ first World Cup match against Scotland.

Lowvelder went out to some of these establishments to capture some of the cheerful fans in their element.

While sipping on a gin, enjoying a warm spring day, the Lowveld Gin Fest was one of these spots.

Springbok fans also packed Mbombela Golf Club on Sunday September 10 to watch the match. Among them was Danie Rossouw, a Springbok World Cup winner. He played in the 2007 final against England, which South Africa won 15-6.

Rossouw entered Springbok legends when he made the vital tackle on English winger Mark Cueto in that match. The debate on whether Cueto was in touch or not continues to this day, despite video evidence showing his left boot touching the chalk.

A mass of green and gold filled up the area in front of a big screen at the famed Sand Bar, and no one went hungry or thirsty.

The Boks take on Romania next on Sunday September 17 at 15:00.
