Mbombela church serves Portuguese night with a tasty twist

The event brought the community together to enjoy a unique selection of delicious foods prepared by local cooks.

Foodies were treated to a spicy, sweet, saucy and finger-licking taste of Portuguese cuisine at Church Unlimited Nelspruit on September 8.

It was a great day to skip dinner at home and enjoy various foods at inexpensive prices. The Portuguese evening’s aim was to celebrate the unique culture of the Lowveld.

One of the organisers, Etienne Garnett-Bennet, said the turnout was amazing and they had received positive feedback from patrons and cooks.

“Most families came out to enjoy a tasty and unique dinner. A lot of locals who are not members of Church Unlimited Nelspruit also came by to enjoy. We have grown since the first evening last year. We hope the event grows much bigger to cater for more patrons,” said Garnett-Bennet.
