Lowvelder previously reported that, according to the victim’s father, who wished to remain anonymous, his daughter had been travelling to Mbombela in the back of a Mercedes-Benz Viano along with her four siblings in a minivan on the R537 on April 10 when the incident occurred and she was shot in the back.

The father has since declined to comment further.

The motive for the shooting and how it unfolded will be subject to court proceedings.
