UPDATE: N4 between Mara Road and Mabalel Lodge reopened
A collision between two trucks claimed two lives. Emer-G-Med confirmed their deaths.
More than 12 hours of recovery of a truck accident, the N4 between the Mara Road and Mabalel Lodge, is operational. TRAC N4 advised motorists to approach that section of the road cautiously as the westbound slow lane towards Mbombela is still closed.
The closure was due to the fatal collision and fire between two trucks, one carrying logs and the other carrying chrome on October 4.
Both drivers were certified dead on the scene, while one was burnt beyond recognition, confirmed by the Emer-G-Med.

Two killed in truck collision on N4 between Mara Road and Mabalel Lodge – October 4
Two truck drivers were declared dead on scene by Emer-G-Med after a collision on the N4 between Mara Road and Mabalel Lodge today, October 4.
The collision, which ignited a fire, involved a truck carrying chrome and one transporting logs.
Emer-G-Med’s Martin Jeffrey said one driver was burnt beyond recognition.
“The body of the second driver has to be extricated,” he said.

The Mbombela Fire and Rescue was on scene to extinguish the burning trucks.

TRAC N4 advised motorists to use alternative routes.
