Mob beats Kutullo man to a pulp for selling fake mining jobs

The man is currently recovering at home after allegeldy scamming people from Jane Furse, Kutullo, Riba Cross and Tubatse villages.

An alleged job scammer was handed some rough justice in Riba Cross outside Burgersfort on October 16.
The man, who is known to this publication, hails from Kutullo outside Steelpoort.

According to eyewitnesses, the man had allegedly promised people jobs at the mines in Steelpoort and Burgersfort in exchange for money.

He allegedly tells desperate job seekers he is part of a tribal authority committee and is responsible for recruiting miners.

“He has been scamming people, promising them jobs at the mines in the Eastern Limb. People from as far as Jane Furse, Riba Cross and Tubatse villages were his victims. They lost money paying for non-existent jobs from the man,” alleged a local resident.

According to sources, the scammer was caught and was taken to one local mine. “The management at the mine denied he was part of the committee, and said it was the first time they had ever seen him.”
Pictures of the injured man are circulating on social media. Dressed in an ANC golf shirt, he has a swollen face and mouth.

“After his punishment, he was rushed to Dilokong Hospital for treatment. He is currently recovering at home,” said a community member from Kutullo.

Lowvelder has  learnt that no case was opened in this matter.

In September, the Limpopo police commissioner, Major General Thembi Hadebe, said communities should learn to understand that mob justice is a crime, and that the perpetrators will face the full might of the law.
“Citizen’s arrests are welcomed. However, communities should refrain from taking the law into their own hands after arresting criminals”.
