Foreign national sentenced for fraud in Low’s Creek
The fraudster cloned numerous bank cards. He faces 12 months’ imprisonment or, alternatively, a R3 000 fine.

Phinda Alex Ndlovu (32) was found guilty of fraud and sentenced by the Low’s Creek Periodical Court on Thursday October 26.
Ndlovu was arrested by the team of Nelspruit Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit and FNB and Absa forensic investigators at the Nkomazi Toll Plaza on August 17 during a stop-and-search operation.
On the day in question, he was driving a Scania truck from eSwatini to South Africa. On arrival at the tollgate, the accused presented a cloned Standard Bank card to the booth operator for payment. The transaction was made, and the driver was stopped and searched by the team.

During the search, he was found in possession of a Standard Bank fleet card, one cloned Nedbank card and one cloned FNB debit card, together with several tollgate transaction slips in his possession to the value of R72 550.
The accused was arrested and appeared in court on several occasions, until he was sentenced with a R3 000 fine or 12 months’ imprisonment.
