Severe thunderstorms predicted for parts of Mbombela
SAWS predicted a level 2 severe thunderstorm in some parts of Mpumalanga, including parts of Mbombela, this afternoon, January 29.
The SAWS has issued a level 2 severe weather warning for Mbombela, including Barberton, from 14:00 until 23:00 this evening, January 29.

The prediction includes isolated scattered thunderstorms over the eastern and northern parts of the country.
It said some of these storms have the potential to be severe and may result in heavy downpours, large amounts of small hail and strong winds.

Some of the impact could include localised flooding, poor driving conditions, strong gusty winds, which could cause damage to informal houses, and localised service disruptions due to power outages.

The SAWS has urged the public to avoid flooded roads and swollen streams, as well as to move to higher ground if rising water levels are observed.
It also urged people to not seek shelter under trees or tall objects, and to not go fishing or play golf during the expected storms.
