The annual Easter Egg Hunt and Colouring Competition at Bagdad Centre saw 70 kids from across the Lowveld participate on March 23.

According to the event’s organiser, Estelle Roe, kids from the age of three up to young teens were the most important guests of the day. They located Easter eggs and created lovely coloured images, and one could see this was a serious business for all of them.

While their children were entertained, the parents savoured the fare from the various restaurants.

“We had a junior section for kids from the age of three to eight with pictures to colour in, taking into considering their age abilities. We also catered for the nine- to 13-year-olds. Prizes ranged from vouchers for favourite Asian foods such as King Bean and Sheer Elegance for each age category,” she said.

Roe said the centre enjoys hosting children during special events. “The good thing about this one was that parents were also part of the fun, as they sat with their kids and watched them participate in the competitions, even when they hunted for the Easter eggs.”

The Bagdad Centre will host kiddies’ cooking lessons periodically again this year, during which some of the top Lowveld chefs will teach them to prepare a variety of dishes, from omelettes to pastas and more. This will culminate in a kiddies’ cook-off competition later in the year.
