UPDATE: Water supply in Mbombela and White River still in recovery

Most of White River and large parts of Mbombela have been without any water since Wednesday afternoon, April 24. Silulumanzi has advised the public to use water sparingly while the supply is still recovering.

Silulumanzi has issued a statement today, April 26, that the water supply to large parts in Mbombela and White River has still not been fully recovered, however, the reservoirs in

Mbombela are starting to fill up. A 70%-80% recovery to the distribution system is envisaged as the day progresses.

After a cable theft at Silulumanzi’s Nelspruit Waterworks on Wednesday April 24, the company had been unable to produce and supply water from the plant to the entire Mbombela system.

Silulumanzi’s statement said there are still some areas in Mbombela that are struggling to get enough water, and that it has secured the services of water tankers for these areas until the situation has stabilised.

Silulumanzi’s Richmond Jele previously told Lowvelder that affected residents are urged to call the utility’s call centre and provide their addresses as well as a central meeting point where water tankers can be dispatched.

Residents of Mbombela are advised to use water sparingly. Silulumanzi also apologised for the inconvenience and thanked all the residents for their patience.
