Meyer Beukes Warriors on Wheel Foundation to deliver wheelchairs to the needy in Mpumalanga

The foundation has delivered 19 wheelchairs to individuals in need and will hand over the remaining 104 during the next few months.

“The Meyer Beukes Warriors on Wheels Foundation will deliver 123 wheelchairs to individuals in need over the next few months,” said Kylah Beukes, the founder and managing director.

The foundation was started 13 years ago when Kylah’s son was born with spina bifida, resulting in him becoming paraplegic, Beukes explained. “My eyes were opened to a world of many families with children with disabilities who can’t provide for all their needs,” she added.

The foundation has partnered with local businesses such as the Wheelchair Foundation, Life-Form Taxidermy, Lowveld Nomads and Crossing Shopping Centre Nelspruit to purchase and deliver the wheelchairs to those in need.

So far, they have delivered 19 wheelchairs to individuals in need.

One of the recipients, the 21-year-old Thokozani Mapanga, had his wheelchair sponsored by Life-Form Taxidermy and the Wheelchair Foundation, and was overjoyed as he received it. He said it will provide him with independence and freedom.

The three-year-old Kubobonke Ketsekile, born with spina bifida, beamed with joy as he received his very first wheelchair, sponsored by the Lowveld Nomads. “He settled in swiftly, eagerly trying to navigate his way around,” Beukes observed. Kubononke’s mother, Nosiphiwo, said she is thankful for the wheelchair, as it will provide them with much-needed assistance.
