The seniors, aged between 60 and 103, were treated like kings and queens.
Some elderly people from Mbombela were spoilt during a well-organised Red Carpet Chauffeur two-course lunch at the Lowveld National Botanical Garden on Saturday May 4.
The golden oldies, between the ages 60 and 103, were treated like kings and queens. They were hosted by Mrs Mpumalanga finalist 2024, Anicia Mabuza, the Collen Mashawana Foundation, and other partners.

The event started with a red carpet chauffeur experience with the partner Omoda Mbombela.
Speaking at the event, Mabuza said that its purpose was to appreciate and show love to the elderly while they were still alive, and to restore their dignity.
The seniors enjoyed a two-course lunch, received gifts from various corporate sponsors, and participated in various games.

The day was also meant to remove the stigma of being old, especially in rural areas and townships, where they are subjected to staying home or must be in the field cultivating vegetables.
“They also deserve to be pampered and experience some of the things they never had a chance to taste before. We have noticed how they had enjoyed outdoor activities. This confirmed that elderly people enjoyed being spoilt,” she said.
Mabuza added that they are planning to host a similar event later this year.
