Dullstroom accident claims lives of two Americans and two South Africans

Two United States nationals, the South African they were travelling with, and a SAPS member were killed in accident near Dullstroom.

A head-on collision between a SAPS vehicle and a Toyota double-cab bakkie resulted in the deaths of a SAPS member, two United States (US) nationals, and a South African citizen.

The fatal accident occurred on the R540/Dullstroom Thursday, July 4 just after 18:00.

According to reports, members from the Dullstroom Police Station received a call informing them about an accident involving a marked police vehicle and a white double-cab bakkie.

A 45-year-old police constable was certified dead at the scene. The two female occupants and one male occupant of the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital.

All three succumbed to their injuries. Two were US nationals and one a South African.

“This is a tragic loss of life and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased,” said Mkhwanazi.

It is not certain at which police station the deceased SAPS member was stationed.
