UPDATE: Accident scene near the Valencia intersection link on the N4 has been cleared
The body of the driver was retrieved and he has not been identified yet.
The scene of the accident on the N4 near the Valencia intersection link has been cleared, and the body of the driver has been retrieved. The accident occurred earlier today, December 12.
The spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, said the road has been reopened. It had been operating on a stop-and-go basis due to an accident that involved an articulated truck that was transporting cement. The truck crashed through the bridge rails and fell into the ravine.

“The driver of the truck has not been identified yet and his next of kin will need to be informed. The truck was also removed from the ravine. On behalf of the department we would like to thank everyone who was involved in retrieving the body and the truck from the ravine. Condolences to the family of the deceased,” he said.
Mmusi also called on motorists to be cautious on the road at all times, rest when they are tired, and overtake when it’s safe to do so. Most importantly, they must adhere to the rules of the road.
