NOTICE | Water disruption in Mbombela due to cable theft

The City of Mbombela’s team is on the ground to replace the stolen cable.

Due to cable theft in Riverside Industrial, the water supply to some parts of Mbombela would be disrupted on Monday, January 6.

According to Silulumanzi’s spokesperson, Richmond Jele, pumping and water distribution at the water treatment plant is affected.

“Some parts of Mbombela and surrounding areas might experience challenges in water supply due to low reservoirs levels. The City of Mbombela [CoM] has given an estimated time of six to eight hours to restore power. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience. We will keep the community updated,” said Jele.

Meanwhile, the CoM’s spokesperson, Joseph Ngala, confirmed that officials are working on replacing the cable that was stolen on Sunday night, January 5.

“Currently we don’t know who stole the cable. We are calling on members of the public of to play their role in safeguarding infrastructure. Cable theft is one of the biggest challenges the municipality is facing and we are losing millions because of it. We need the community at large to report incidents of people tampering with the infrastructure.”
