Steelpoort’s problematic pothole reopens and causes rear-ending accident

The pothole has been fixed and always reappeared after few months.

The problematic pothole next to the mini bridge between Steelpoort and Winterveld on the D1296 has resurfaced again. This pothole led to another accident.

The Suzuki Ertiga involved in the accident.

On January 11, a Suzuki Ertiga was hit from behind by a truck.

The driver and three passengers were rushed to the nearby Dilokong Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

An eyewitnesses said:“ The driver of the Ertiga slowed down after seeing the pothole and was unfortunately knocked by the truck, which was driving behind. The occupants of the Ertiga were so lucky because their vehicle almost went down into the Tubatse River.”

In November 2023, the large pothole, which had been a concern to motorists, was fixed, but according to them, it emerged again a few months later.

The pothole has been fixed and always reappeared after few months.

A motorist who drives on the road daily said: “The pothole is a huge concern. We urge the Road Agency Limpopo [RAL] and the Limpopo Department of Public Works to fix it immediately.”
