Two suspects arrested in White River for possession of dagga worth R1.2m

The two were caught with 50 compressed bags of dagga, which weighed approximate 1 020kg.

Two suspects, aged 23 and 30, were arrested on Sunday, January 26, after being found in possession of dagga worth about R1.2m on the R538 near the KMI Airport.

Both suspects were charged with dealing in dagga. The suspects are expected to appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court soon.

According to a police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the men were arrested during the White River Flying Squad’s routine patrols.

The two suspects were caught on the R538 near the KMI Airport.

“They spotted a white Toyota Quantum with two occupants. The vehicle was stopped by the members, and they conducted a search. They discovered 50 compressed bags of dagga weighing approximately 1 020kg,” Ndubane said.

She added that one of the suspects, who is from the Kingdom of eSwatini, is faced with an additional charge of contravening the Immigration Act after being found to be in the country without the valid documentation.

They were charged with dealing in dagga.
