Limpopo cyclists to resume their trip to Cape Town tomorrow

The Limpopo trio peddling from Burgersfort to Cape Town are expected to resume with their trip on Monday, April 14.

The three cyclists left Burgersfort on April 2.

The three cyclists, Karabo Mokoo (21) from Riba Cross in Burgersfort, Maxwell Ndou (24) from Vhembe, and Gauta Mahlakoane (22) from Ga Mathabatha, left Tubatse on April 2, heading to the Mother City.

Known to many as Gauta BMX Crew, the young men embarked on this journey to raise awareness and to promote cycling in rural areas.

Today, April 13, the cyclists are resting after Ndou sustained a leg injury.

“After a challenging day of injuries and time delays the boys are receiving medical care and physiotherapy. They are finally getting some rest and care. The journey will resume on Monday,” said one of their main sponsors, DJ Karri.

The three are currently about 320km from Cape Town, resting in Laingsburg. Despite the setback, these guys are still determined to complete their mission.

“Our dream is to inspire youth about the success of unity and hard work, ” they said.

The cyclists have been trending on social media for the past days. They received support and donations from Standard Bank; MySol Holdings; Jacaranda FM; Fetakgomo Tubatse mayor, Eddie Maila; Burgersfort business mogul, Morgan Mohlala; and many other businesses and individuals.
