Village FC scores big with LMACS donation

This contribution by Lowveld Medical Arts and Cultural Society has improved the team’s ability to train.

The Lowveld Medical Arts and Cultural Society (LMACS) recently made a much-needed donation of training equipment, worth about R9 500 to Village FC. The donation to the club includes essential football equipment such as goal posts, kit and cones.

The contribution will enable players to train more effectively and improve their skills and performance, increasing self-esteem and self-competency. In turn LMACS hopes this will help mitigate the cultivated culture of substance abuse and misuse as a coping mechanism. LMACS is a non-profit organisation that has been facilitating fundraising events for the last three years.

The organisation aims to better the lives of children, establishments and families within the Lowveld. The chairperson, Dr Attie van Wyk, said their organisation focuses on kids and young adults. As an organisation, they would love to get support from other sponsors in the community so that they can continue to make a positive impact.

The Village FC players meet at the Village Park for training every week. The team leader and coach, Dumisani Gama, said they are thrilled with the support received from the organisation. He strongly believes that soccer brings people together and promotes a healthy lifestyle.

“We would like to thank the society for assisting us with all the equipment and we are grateful for their support. As a team, we are looking to do better, even in our current league,” said Gama.
“The initiative demonstrates commitment in supporting local talent and promoting community development.”

The LMACS is set to launch an exciting new project focused on supporting children’s mental health and, according to Van Wyk, they are in need of sponsors to assist them with this initiative. The City of Mbombela also provided the team with cleaning equipment such as litter pickers and refuse bags, since the players clean the park after training.
