Businessman plans to construct road in Burgersfort

The community is excited about the potential new road in their villages.

A mining mogul from Shakung Village, Morgan Mohlala, has volunteered to construct a road linking Thokwane and Shakung villages to the R37.

He was speaking during the launch of the Morgan Mohlala Foundation held at Meropa Casino in Polokwane on Friday. Hundreds of celebrities from all corners of Mzansi attended the event.

From the stage, flanked by the Gauta BMX crew, Mohlala expressed disappointment that the Fetakgomo Tubatse mayor, Eddie Maila, and the Limpopo MEC for public works, roads and infrastructure, Enerst Rachuene, were not part of the event.

“I was going to tell them about my plans to tar the road linking Thokwane to the R37. My wish is to construct a tar road passing Sekopung and Makofane, all the way to Mabocha Village. I have all the equipment including tippers, TLBs, graders and even fuel. I won’t need much from the government. All I ask is for them to put asphalt on the road after I have erected it with my equipment.”

Mohlala’s promise was cheered by attendees at the packed venue.

“He cares about the community. We plead with the government to support him in tarring the road, which is problematic and undrivable during rainy days,” said a Thokwane resident, Victor Makofane.

Through his foundation, Mohlala has given back to communities in meaningful ways. Mohlala erected a house for the Morete family and business owner, Bridget Moropane, won a car from the Mohlala Foundation and also received a R10 000 sponsorship.
