Kgopaneng Sports Complex to be upgraded

Maila asked the communities to support the project and to work closely with the contractor.

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) is expected to complete the Kgopaneng Sports Complex project in January 2026.

On May 14, the mayor, Eddie Maila, introduced the contractor for phase two of the Kgopaneng project in Ward 16.

The facility upgrade is expected to be completed over a period of eight months. Phase two will include a perimeter fence and the upgrading of the combi courts, soccer field and change rooms.

The project is also expected to include the paving of an outdoor gym and indigenous games area.

Phase one included the construction of buildings and related infrastructure, as well as civil projects, an outdoor gym, netball and tennis courts and other sports equipment.

Maila said this is being done to provide access to better facilities for rural communities and to unearth talent among young people involved in sports.

The mayor appealed to the community to support the initiative and work together with the contractor for the smooth running of the project.
