Burgersfort Superstars win cricket tourney
Eight teams from Sekhukhune participated in a cricket extravaganza.
Burgersfort Superstars are the inaugural winners of the Burgersfort Premier League cricket tournament.
The T10 tournament was held in Burgersfort a fortnight ago and brought together eight teams from all corners of the Sekhukhune District.
The Superstars were unbeaten in the two games leading up to the final, in which they defeated the Phokwane Lions by 20 runs.
The champions received a trophy and gold medals, and the runners-up received silver medals.
Tournament organiser Arshad Khan of Woodcentre Burgersfort said they had the best players from Sekhukhune competing.
“It was a magnificent tournament that attracted top players. The cricket played during the games was top-notch. We will in future hold another tournament of this magnitude as it attracts members of the community and brings entertainment to cricket lovers.”
Khan thanked all the supporters, sponsors and teams for their contributions to the games.
