Mogale wa Bagale wins Burgersfort cricket tournament

The new champions won the match by 16 runs.

Mogale wa Bagale Cricket Club dethroned Burgersfort Superstars as the champions of the Burgersfort Premier League (BPL) on Sunday at the Sebidikane Sports Grounds in Tubatse.

Mogale wa Bagale won the tournament on Sunday.

Mogale won the match by 16 runs. The winners set a target of 86 runs in their six overs and in response Superstars only managed 70 runs. This T10 final was cut to a six-over match due to time constraints on the day.

Man of the tournament, Khaleel Malik.

The champions received a trophy and gold medals, and the runners-up received silver medals.

 

Superstars batsman, Khaleel Malik was the man of the tournament, he accumulated a total of 93 runs during the tournament.

Mogale’s Choice Abdul was the tournament’s best bowler with eight wickets.

Tournament organiser Arshad Khan said they had the best players from Sekhukhune competing.

“It was a magnificent tournament that attracted top players. The cricket played during the games was top-notch. We will in future hold another tournament of this magnitude as it attracts members of the community and brings entertainment to cricket lovers.”

Khan thanked all the supporters, sponsors and teams for their contributions to the games.

Burgersfort Superstars lost to Mogale wa Bagale in the finals.

The BPL is a knockout tournament involving eight teams. The tournament was first played on May 25.
