Freak accident claims life of beloved White River resident

The community is grieving the loss of Richard Denys, remembered for his kindness and generosity, after his untimely death.

The White River community was left reeling after the sudden and tragic death of Richard Denys (79), who died following a freak accident earlier this month.

Details remain limited, but it is understood that Denys fell from a roof on September 12 under circumstances that are still unclear.

He was rushed to Kiaat Private Hospital and later transferred to Mediclinic Nelspruit, where he succumbed to his injuries a few days later.

His family confirmed the news in a statement:

“It is with sad hearts that we inform you of the sudden passing of our beloved Richard. His memorial service [was] held at White River Baptist Church on Wednesday (September 24) at 11:00. Please keep us lifted in prayer as we mourn this great loss.”

Denys was known in the community for his warmth, kindness and generosity. His passing leaves a profound void among those who knew him.

He leaves behind his wife, Eloise.
