Suspended Hazyview SAPS employee convicted for illegal loan business

A Hawks Nelspruit’s investigation led to Ndlovu’s arrest and subsequent sentencing.

A former Hazyview SAPS administration clerk, Bernard Ndlovu (53), was found guilty yesterday, September 30, in the White River Magistrate’s Court for operating an unregistered cash loan business. He was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment or a R30 000 fine, suspended for three years on condition that he is not found guilty of a similar offence.

Following a serious commercial crime investigation, Ndlovu was arrested at his workplace on July 21, 2023. He was found in possession of 140 different bank and SASSA cards.

When clients borrowed money, Ndlovu took cards as security to ensure repayment. He was arrested for contravention of the National Credit Act.

The provincial head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in, Major General Nico Gerber, assured community members that the Hawks will always investigate without fear or favour.
