Mbombela cop under investigation after viral social media video
A Mbombela police officer faces an Anti-Corruption Unit probe after a video of him went viral.
A SAPS officer from the Nelspruit Police Station has been identified in a viral video allegedly taking items from hawkers in the Mbombela CBD.
In the footage, the officer, seated in the passenger seat of a moving police vehicle marked Nelspruit SAPS, is seen interacting with three hawkers and taking items from them.
The video circulated on social media from Thursday, January 15.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said an inquiry docket has been opened and referred to the Anti-Corruption Unit in Middelburg for further investigation. He added that updates on the case will be communicated in due course.
