Kruger Floods Wrap-up: Here’s what you need to know
A Kruger National Park disaster fund and a relief fund have been initiated to help with the park’s recovery.
As the weather begins to clear over Mpumalanga and Limpopo, the Kruger National Park is preparing for the aftermath of the heavy flooding.
Here are the latest updates on the floods and how you can get involved:
Day visitors are allowed to enter the park again from tomorrow, January 19.

SANParks confirmed that the water level of the Letaba River continues to subside and that only gates in the southern region of the park are accessible – Paul Kruger Gate, Numbi Gate, Malelane Gate and Phabeni Gate.

The minister of forestry, fisheries and the environment, Willie Aucamp, paid a visit to the Kruger National Park yesterday, January 17, to establish the Kruger Relief Fund.

The SANParks Honorary Rangers have also established a dedicated disaster fund to support the park during and following the floods.
To contribute, members of the public can make a donation by following these steps:
- Donate via SnapScan and ensure the recipient shows SANParks Honorary Rangers before paying.
- Indicate if you wish to remain anonymous when donating.
- Send proof of payment via email to [email protected] or WhatsApp 072 342 0350 to receive acknowledgement.
- Follow progress updates on the SANParks Honorary Rangers Facebook page and the SANParks Kruger Facebook community.
- Watch for additional donation options, which will be announced from 19 January.
Members of the public should note that no admin costs will be taken from this fund, to ensure maximum impact on the ground.
