CoM conducts emergency repairs on Penryn Road in Mbombela

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the area.

The City of Mbombela (CoM) is carrying out emergency repairs today, January 27, on a damaged section of Penryn Road.

The damage was caused by underground springs surfacing through the asphalt during recent heavy rains. According to CoM spokesperson Joseph Ngala, the city aims to finish the repairs by Wednesday, January 28.

“The repairs are part of the city’s intervention to address damage caused by the recent rains. These repairs were planned, however, we could not proceed while it was raining because the spring water flow is too strong during downpours. Now that the rain has stopped, we are busy on site,” he said.

Ngala added that motorists are advised to drive with caution when approaching the area. The city also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the roadworks. Motorists are requested to exercise extra caution when approaching the R40 intersection.
