Mbombela Weather Update: Wet Sunday ahead, but no cyclone threat
Cyclone Fytia will miss South Africa, but rain is forecast for Mpumalanga.
Residents of Mbombela and Mpumalanga can expect a wet Sunday (February 1), with rain predicted throughout the day.
Amid concerns about tropical cyclone Fytia, an administrator of SWAICSA told Lowvelder that the weather system poses no threat to South Africa.
Tropical Cyclone Fytia made landfall in Soalala, Boeny region, #Madagascar, at 04:30 local time on 31 January.

Fytia is currently located approximately 233 nautical miles north-west of Antananarivo, Madagascar.

SWAISCA said it is unlikely to turn towards the country.
The South African Weather Service has issued impact-based yellow level 2 and 4 warnings for Mpumalanga, indicating the possibility of severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail on Sunday.

These conditions could lead to localised flooding.
Mbombela forecast
Morning fog, otherwise cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers. Temperatures are expected to range between 19°C and 27°C.
Malaria alert
Meanwhile, the Mpumalanga Department of Health has issued a malaria alert following recent floods, which have created favourable breeding conditions for malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
MEC Sasekani Manzini has urged communities to take precautions.
