Due to previous incidents, attendees need to consider the following precautions to avoid unnecessary injuries. Captain Pottie Potgieter of the Ehlanzeni Diving Unit shared practical tips on how to be safe in the water.

• The water is shallow so festival-goers need to stand up from their tubes if they find themselves in a dangerous situation.
• If you are in trouble, alert others for help.
• Stay away from low hanging branches as they can puncture your tube or scratch your body.
• Wear closed shoes to protect your feet from the rocks on the riverbed.
