Giriyondo Port of Entry to reopen after flood-related closure

The Giriyondo Port of Entry serves as a link between South Africa and Mozambique via the KNP.

SANParks has announced that the Giriyondo Port of Entry will reopen on Tuesday, March 31.

The border post, located in the northern region of the Kruger National Park (KNP), was temporarily closed following flood damage in January.

“The Border Management Authority has confirmed that the border post will officially reopen, restoring access for travellers and tourists making use of this unique transfrontier route,” said SANParks spokesperson JP Louw.

Giriyondo serves as a vital link between the KNP in South Africa and the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique.

“Giriyondo enables nature lovers to experience the rich biodiversity of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area,” said Louw.

“Visitors will once again be able to enjoy seamless travel between the two parks, promoting ecotourism, cultural exchange and regional collaboration in biodiversity conservation,” he added.
