Kruger National Park battles blaze at Lower Sabie shop

Kruger Park teams are working to contain a fire at Lower Sabie Rest Camp.

Kruger National Park (KNP) authorities have responded to a fire that broke out at the Lower Sabie shop in the early hours of April 21.

According to SANParks spokesperson JP Louw, the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

Ranger teams and other staff members are currently on the ground working to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.

As a precautionary measure, the restaurant, shop and reception areas have been closed and are currently inaccessible to guests.

Officials have indicated that these facilities will remain closed until they are deemed safe to reopen.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
