Fire destroys KNP warehouse in Skukuza
Critical infrastructure, including generators and electrical cabling, was destroyed, but no injuries were reported.
A fire broke out at a storage warehouse in Skukuza in the Kruger National Park during the late hours of Saturday, July 18.
The warehouse housed critical infrastructure components, including spare generators, geysers, substantial quantities of electrical cabling, and other essential maintenance equipment.

“The warehouse in question is situated a considerable distance from all tourism accommodation and administrative offices. As such, there was no immediate risk to guests or core operational facilities, and no injuries have been reported,” said SANParks spokesperson, JP Louw.
Louw said the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
A full investigation is under way, with emergency and technical teams on site to secure the area and assess the extent of the damage.

“The loss of these assets may have a short-term effect on certain maintenance operations within the park,” Louw said.
He added that SANParks is committed to restoring affected operations as swiftly as possible and will provide further updates as verified information becomes available.
