Mpumalanga police have opened an inquest docket following the death of a woman at her residence in Marloth Park in the early hours of Friday, August 7.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, officers were dispatched to the property at 03:02, where private emergency service personnel directed them to the main bedroom where the woman’s body was discovered. Paramedics declared her dead on the scene.

“Preliminary information provided to the police suggests the woman tripped on a doorstep and fell inside the house, possibly striking her head,” he said.

Masondo said the woman later complained of a headache and went to sleep. He added that when a witness attempted to wake her in the early hours, she was unresponsive.

“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the official cause of death and the investigation is ongoing,” Masondo concluded.
