Food and wine enthusiasts gathered at Matumi Golf Club in Mbombela on Saturday for the Unwined Local Food and Wine Show.

Despite the chilly weather, the event attracted a strong turnout, with visitors sampling a wide variety of wines and local food offerings. Some patrons also took the opportunity to purchase their favourite products showcased at the event.

Turnout exceeds expectations

Organisers Toiné Schoeman and GT Lundie said they were delighted by the turnout, particularly because the event coincided with the rugby match between the Springboks and the All Blacks.

“We brought about 26 wine estates to give Lowvelders an opportunity to enjoy some of the country’s finest wines. We also invited local food outlets to showcase their offerings and ensure they receive the support they deserve,” they said.

The organisers said the continued growth of the event was encouraging, with each edition attracting more interest from the public and exhibitors.

The show provided visitors with an opportunity to interact with wine producers, sample different wines and enjoy food from local businesses in a relaxed setting.

Schoeman and Lundie thanked the event’s sponsors, patrons who bought tickets and attended the show, as well as the participating wine estates for bringing their best wines and showcasing their products.

They said the support from the community and exhibitors played an important role in the continued success of the Unwined Local Food and Wine Show.

The event also offered local food outlets an opportunity to connect directly with consumers while promoting their businesses and products to a wider audience.
